So which one of the parents didn’t accept the kid? Because they look the same but for the colouring.
I modified it with the suggestions of other users, it should be more understandable

Would have been more obvious if both parents were in frame 4
Yeah I was confused because I thought the chameleon parents changed colors, but then who was saying get out?
The way the frames are lined up makes this harder to follow.
I find this confusing. I looked for a long time before I got it. The protagonists switch directions and I wasn’t sure who was who. I thought one of the parents turned rainbow and some new guy started yelling at them from out of frame. I think the parents should stay the same direction and the new guy should enter from stage left. And the pointing arm should come from stage right so we know it’s the parents.

Edit: i didn’t flipped only the first panel cuz i don’t like it being to the left and the reading direction would make less sense then
Still needs both the parents on the Branch to avoid confusion

Is that better?
I really didn’t understand the comic until I saw this version. Thank you.
Glad to help :D
That’s way better! There should probably be 2 angry green ones in the last panel because it still could be construed as one parent turning rainbow.
That’s another stupid thing about this strip, chameleons choose their colours so can change colours at their whim. That’s where the inherent misunderstanding comes from.
Good one though.
I would’ve add it but i feared that i’d have to redraw too much stuff so it would’ve looked funky
Spoiler
And i am also lazy :3
Thanks btw!
Can you add some unique little hats to each one so their identities can be differentiated?

Fun fact: the little one has no accessory because in my headcanon every accessory mean that you have an idea of who you are, the little one still doesn’t have a complete idea of who they are so they still didn’t pick any accessory
(I actuallt hate the idea of gendered clothing but that’s the best i could come up with :3)
Come on, really? Parents tell them to get out, pointing to the right, so I just imagined the kid going right untill they found an adult queer, and parents just turned.
It’s not that deep man, you and the others need to work on your comprehension skills holy shit.
It’s a shame art is interpreted by individuals. The comic strip format demands the content to be very clear to allow the message to show through. This strip makes me think about what the hell is going on and so the message gets sidelined.
Also, chameleons choose their colours and can be any colour at any moment. That seriously dilutes the message for me because any of the characters could be any chameleon. Going from two chameleons on a branch, adding a new one and then seeing only one on the original branch makes me think one parent went rainbow, because chameleons change fucking colours
Sorry my interpretation made you mad. Get fucked I guess.
Yeah, this comic really suffers from some poor decisions, most of which you already covered. But I wanted to add that since chameleons are chiefly known for being able to change their colors (though not in the way most people think, but I digress), the poor layout absolutely makes you think that one of the parent chameleons changed to show support while the other didn’t. But it still doesn’t quite work that way because of all the teleporting and position swapping, so it just adds to the overall confusion.
With some layout changes and mirroring as another user already mentioned, this comic would be pretty good
Yup, if every frame after the first was mirrored (not the text, obvs) this would make much more sense!
Or just the first one for that matter
Oh thank you, it’s pre coffee and I was really struggling to work this one out.
Thank you, I couldn’t figure out what was going on
This is actually a really insightful comic when I think about it. People don’t just turn down offers to join community after they’ve been shunned.
Quite easy to understand, actually. No notes. 10/10 depiction of real life, except… Yknow…with chameleons
The real danger to kids is in them discussing and learning about things relating to sex. Republicans raping kids is fine, but evil librals discussing sex and gender related topics with them is very dangerous, because it might lead the the kids refusing at rape o’clock or telling other people about what happens at rape o’clock.
i’ve become convinced that it’s mostly about the birthrate. people want their kids to have many kids again, but that’s less likely if the kids are gay.
Evolutionary psychology would agree. Who it is or isn’t considered alright to have sex with and under what conditions sex is considered moral and immoral is the biggest example of something that has completely different norms to different cultures and something people are more inclined to have strong feelings about.
i’ve long suspected that the real reason why we can’t have a casual sleepover at our neighbor’s is because it would weaken parent’s total control and ability to pressure their children to adhere to stupid commands.
Doesn’t the fact that chameleons can famously change their colour at will kind of undermine the message here?
I don’t think that it’s the color that is the problem for the parents, but what the colors represent.
