As a buttologist I’m open for the angelic interpretation too. For example in Hieronymus Bosch’s ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’, we see butts that are clearly presented to the viewer, just like we do in his ‘Hell’. That’s the dual nature of butts, a divine delight, but also, on a bad day, a source of foulness.
