I hope you don’t let anyones opinion dictate how you interact with your baby! Do what feels right :) the old ways of raising a child are often not focusing on what is best for the baby (and for you), studies have shown that a lot of body contact and bonding with your baby reduces stress and forms a deeper relationship with your baby.

I was sitting in a hanging chair, talking to my partner. When they made a stupid, small joke, I giggled a bit. The hanging chair made a squeaking noise on that small giggling motion, which made me chuckle, which caused a stronger squeaking, and just like that, I was in a self enforcing spiral of laughing and squeaking. I couldn’t stop myself, and ultimately my partner had to get me out of that chair because I had no control left from laughing so much :D
