Found you Roger Simon.
Thanks for the blast from the past lol.
I haven’t been on reddit for years but I always remember it having this problem. My first account was made just so I could get that /r/atheism circlejerk out of my feed.
I don’t know what it’s like now but keep in mind that in addition to the growth, reddit has been taken over by corporate interests. That, and the big increase in traffic, means it’s more of a target for botfarms and things of that nature.
Best way to avoid this problem is to just participate in the smaller niche subreddits in my experience.
Reddit hivemind has been a thing for the entire history of Reddit.

On Wednesday, the European Commission (EC) announced that “X does indeed not qualify as a gatekeeper in relation to its online social networking service, given that the investigation revealed that X is not an important gateway for business users to reach end users.”
Task failed successfully.
Meta’s revenue is in the tens of billions. This fine isn’t even a rounding error for them. This isn’t something that should be taken so lightly.
Definitely agreed. Then again, Reddit has stopped being user or privacy friendly for a long time now.
Google has a function to limit or remove third party connections/accounts from your google account. You should be able to change that if you wanted to.
Kind of reminds me of Ron Perlman not gonna lie. Maybe because of the shading and shape of the mouth area?
It’s not at all an uncommon story. Go to any women’s support group or site, and it’ll be a very consistent trend. A lot of people still have the old gender roles stuck in their heads, but they fail to acknowledge that some things have changed.
The big one is that women can now be financially independent. We’re only 2 generations away from women being able to open a bank in their name in the US. Before that, women didn’t have the financial freedom to live alone or divorce abusive/neglectful spouses.
The other one kind of ties into the first one, freedom of choice. It’s not as big an expectation for women to marry, and people are finding that a lot of women would prefer to be alone and single than married. Where do you think all these memes of childless cat ladies come from? It didn’t start with JD Vance. He just amplified it.
To be fair those ages were set when the comic book culture was a lot more light hearted. They did get aged up to ~approx 16 when becoming Robin when they rebooted the franchise to address this. Still not ok, but they did try to address it without alienating the older fans.
I honestly don’t know if they do or don’t have. I’d imagine it also varies by region. I just know schools have started giving out laptops to kids to take home if they are needed.
These aren’t necessarily the computers you and I grew up on where they had a dedicated computer lab room for use during class time. These are devices they take everywhere with them, even home. Now imagine some creepy school IT administrator decided to peek on the Webcams of kids while they’re on their room?
Even if it somehow gets reinstated, the damage is done. Majority have already left for alternatives.
Thanks for the context. What a PoS.
You definitely see a difference in children who are regularly given phones to keep them occupied. They’re just so much more hyper active. I know a lot of teachers have been complaining about phone use in the classrooms. In Canada they just started rolling back against rules saying teachers can’t confiscate phones.
I’ve been using Qwant and been loving it.
