  • Local manufacturing is politically advantageous and may employ some people at the same time, but that’s where benefits end.

There are legitimate strategic concerns with sourcing things long-term from potentially hostile states.

Europe should absolutely take advantage of current Chinese production to improve their own green energy efforts, but looking into local production in addition is not just a ‘for-show’ move. As sanctions on Russia show, dependence on markets that can potentially turn hostile can be very damaging.

Fairy folk - in traditional mythology, fairies and the like aren’t sweet little pixies, they’re very alien fellows who abide by strict-but-seemingly-arbitrary rules. To differentiate them from modern conceptions, the older term ‘fae’ is often used for traditional fairies.

The power of words and contracts are common themes with the fae, and often in mythology knowing their ‘true name’ gives power over them, so they’re reluctant to give away that information.

    Ha ha

    Too bad

It’s been chosen to fuck around and find out on behalf of our entire society

The innocent, the guilty, doesn’t matter. We’re all going to find out.

I hope everyone involved in bringing this down on us is happy with themselves. I’m sure most of them will be fine, of course.

  • I’m not sure it works on me. Not because I’m some super human resistant to advertising (I’m not) but because I’m so bad at math that when they start asking me about anything involving small change I tune out and overestimate by 50% rounded into nice whole numbers.

    “This is 19.99”

    “Okay so it’s basically 30$.”

It gives me nice surprises sometimes when I get my receipt.

  • The link should take you to the Lemmy page.

Some ~30% net MAU growth since December of last year is nothing to sniff at.

i.e., the Reddit drama may have caused people to come check us out, but then the largest majority of people left, likely going right back to Reddit. Possibly bc of the deep (niche) content stores that they still have - e.g. if everyone else uses Windows, it’s just easier for you to use it too, and it takes a special mindset to buck that trend.:-)

Most people who left from Reddit after The Great Exodus did so in the first 3-4 months, though.

Oh yeah!? Well I’M thinking of how MESSED UP it is to think about how other people are thinking about other people’s rates of masturbation in November!

That’s like voyeur voyeurism. SICK behavior. TWISTED
