Sorry to hear that. I had a blast in school, especially high school. It does look like, to me, a generation that views in person interactions with anxiety. Only way to fix that is through in person interactions.
Schools are terrible social spaces. I only ever got bullied. Schools are even banning talking at lunches now.

I graduated around a decade ago. I’ve heard of “quirt lunches” as a thing they do now
