      They say that unionism is increasing, that the increase in unionism scares employers, but that employers expect to be able to replace union workers with AI

      They’re suggesting that businesses are so keen to invest in AI right now because they can be certain that AI won’t unionise, and they want to replace as many workers as possible so that they don’t have to worry about the unions any more

        Unions don’t come into it. They want to replace humans with AI because the AI will be cheaper regardless of whether the humans are unionized or not.

        In the long run it’s a bit stupid because if companies replace everyone with AI they’re going to have to deal with the unemployed population. If they are afraid of unions god knows what they’ll do against the angry masses, unions are the alternative to violence.
