I understood what it meant. I also understood that using the phrase “flicking someone off” is not widely recognized.

This reminds me of something I saw in BoneAppleTea back in my Reddit days.

Be nice. Don’t take anything personally. Take political debates to the appropriate communities. Take personal disagreements & arguments to private messages.
No advertising, brand promotion, or guerrilla marketing.
