Rainy days are great. If the day is nice out, I’ll feel guilty about wanting to do next to nothing. But a rainy day is like a free pass to relax.

When the part of your brain that feels guilty for wanting to stay in starts nagging at you, then metaphorically speaking, whose voice does it speak in? By which I mean, who do you think instilled that sense of guilt in you? For me it’s my mother.

Not the one you responded to, but I think it’s myself. I spent most of my teenage years in bed, not moving, doing nothing. Angry at myself for not just getting out of bed and doing something for years. Get home, walk to bedroom, flop down. Only out for washroom breaks, food if I’m feeling it that day, or on rare occasions when forced to.

Honestly, I think it’s me. Like I’m not being all that I could be.

My mother, however, is a master of guilt. But I don’t hear her telling me to do something in this kind of situation.
