In c/unpopularopinion, people just upvote the opinions the like, making them popular. There are barely any unpopular opinions there.

Apple users are technically inept morons

Men who drive giant pickup trucks are deeply insecure

People who want to live in HOAs are freedom-hating bootlickers

The only people who should be allowed to own trucks are laborers

    Instragram users are all brain-dead

    Privacy is important

People who do not learn how to fix or take care of the stuff in their lives are worthless

Men who watch sports, but do not nor have not ever played them are fat useless pathetic turds

Dogs that bite should all be euthanized, no second chances

Adults that buy and play with Legos suffer from arrested development and should do something useful with their lives

Your pedal bike is a stupid overpriced piece of junk, especially if it cost more than $400

If you wear sweats, crocs, pajamas or anything like that out in public you are a retard, go home and put on some pants

That ought to cover most things.

You got like 50% fairly popular opinions in there, and then some hopefully deeply unpopular ones, lol.

complains about freedom-hating bootlickers and calls people useless for exercising their freedom to play with legos and retards for wearing whatever they want

pushed the stick so far up your arse that you gave yourself a lobotomy, eh

Your bike take is stupid AF, especially if you drive a car. Also, it is a very popular opinion because people are idiots. They keep you in shape, they save you money, and they don’t pollute or kill people like vehicles do.

I’m typing this on a Macbook so take it with a 0.5g NaCl but just because a lot of devs use Macs doesn’t mean they’re good. It just means a lot of devs like them as status symbols, Windows sucks for most non-Windows-specific development and there’s a cult around Apple. My linux desktop is way better for 99% of development than this laptop, but this laptop is better built than most other brands.

They are not saying that Macs are good but they are refuting the statement that Mac users are all technically inept morons.

I guess all your hobbies are super useful to society?

I fix cars as my hobby. I don’t know about saving the world with it, but it does save a lot of money and I can help friends/family.

However, your criticism draws an interesting point. Working on a car can be satisfying when you’re all done, but it’s fucking hard work. Hard, dirty, greazy, tiring and many times frustrating. I’ve bashed my knuckles countless times, stabbed myself on sharp zip ties, burned myself on hot engine parts, gotten oil and filth in my eyes even when wearing PPE. I started doing it because I got tired of being fucked anytime I took my car to a shop and I was too broke to keep doing it. Then I just got used to fixing them on my own and it sort of turned to a hobby. I mean, it’s still kind of fun, but most of the time, it’s just boring stuff like a radiator sprung a leak and needs to be replaced, not cool or fun like “I’m going to make this go faster, look cooler, etc”.

However, it isn’t relaxing. I’m tired, dirty and sore when I’m done. Sure, I saved a buck and did it right, but maybe I’m doing hobbies wrong. Maybe a hobby should not have roots in a capitalistic outcome. It should be as enjoyable as something can be, relaxing, stimulating, something you can learn and grow from. If fixing a car is a hobby, maybe cutting coupons is also a hobby–and that doesn’t seem like much of a hobby.

I mean, I still feel the same way about adults who play with legos, but maybe I will do less fixing and more music instead.
