As a former gifted student, this kinda tracks because I always felt that half of the class were “weirdos” (now known as neurodivergent) and the other half were repressed “weirdos”. Not sure about everyone being bi, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was far more likely than typical students.

I’d take that page with a grain of salt, especially since it is quite old and not all of it valid anymore, but I agree that generally you hear the good things about Matrix. Even disregarding what that site has to say, I’d give XMPP a look. XMPP likely isn’t all rainbows either, but I like the traction it is getting and it did a lot of things right in my mind.

I’m not the person you replied to, but a lot of my friends that pushed us to initially use Matrix have grown unhappy with the direction it’s gone and really dislike the clients. I personally host a private Matrix server and I am fine with it for now, but I’m able to avoid most of the drama and bugs by simply not moving to the latest and greatest. I always liked XMPP in the past, but I haven’t used it in a few years. I am glad to see it picking up support and hope that some of the things I didn’t like about it (which I can’t seem to recall at the moment :) ) are no longer problems or at least may get some traction on resolving.

I confirmed this with my own SDR years ago after seeing a presentation about it at DEFCON.
We are a sick people.
The next thing you’ll be telling us is that we can’t arbitrarily drop anvils on people.
I’m OK with that. I don’t need my potatoes demanding that I kneel before Zod.
Starting fights today are we?

Yeah, the devil is in the details. Is there a cooldown? Are there quantity limitations? Location could be interesting because you could put ten tons of gravel a mile high and drop it. You could have Nasa pay you to quickly assemble a compacted gravel mini-moon at a lagrange point for a space dock.
It does raise the question on if this could be useful in some sort of hand to hand combat situation. What happens if I my fist is 6" away from your face and I teleport 7" forward? I guess the same question applies to walls. If I can just teleport through matter, then it’s usefulness is suddenly quite high.
I would be the Gravel King. You need gravel, you come to me. I would be a benevolent king though. I would grant gravel to those that need it.

I have never hired anyone attractive, but I did almost hire one woman that was quite attractive for my dev team and I ended up hearing a bunch of grumbling from some of the guys (all married) for choosing someone that was more qualified.
