It depends. Newpipe definitely does, because it’s a local client and uses your internet to watch the video. Invidious however can be configured to cache videos, which is useful on bigger instances where people watch the “top” videos. If a video is cached it will simply use the local video stream and not count a view.

A good reason for staying with DDR4 at this point in time is if you need faster boot times. DDR5 makes computers boot slower because it’s less stable and needs more work during POST to get stable.

In many cases it’s not a requirement though, and the speed improvements of DDR5 after boot outweigh the extra boot time.

The amount of time needed to do this to an opensource project compared to the time needed to do this to closed source software makes this article almost completely meaningless, especially since it’s a recent article and not when this news was still news. It’s clickbait and useless.
