Ok but isn’t it already the case anyway? How would age verification make it easier?

I see how this is bad from a privacy standpoint, but how does it affect device ownership?

If your friends are embarrassed by the apps you choose to use, maybe it’s time to find better friends

Can’t they send a ordinary text message to your phone number?

Besides witty comebacks, do you have any arguments that can demonstrate your point?
This is fucking frightening. Give guns and a semblance of power to young males and you can make them do awful things. See: China’s cultural revolution in the 60s
This. Also, seeing that the world is going to shit at the same time as boomers begin to die makes me think they weren’t that bad after all.

It’s not when nobody asks you to present facts to support your claims.
Seems simple enough, but how do you start?
I’d hypothesise that you can insert fucking either between the prefix and the root, or before a stressed vowel.

Phonology! My old friend!

I agree with you, but you must know that a high paying job and a degree aren’t reliable indicators of intelligence.

Ya let’s use chrome instead
I’m told edibles only work if you say the magic words, which are “this shit ain’t doing anything”.

Because I don’t know you.

Maybe because the investigation naturally led them to Mangione, and everyone claiming he’s been framed are wrong.
Sometimes there’s no conspiracy.

You want change: organize and vote. Lots of comments here that seem to view politics as a show, as if we were powerless against the events that unfold week after week. It’s only a show if you don’t care enough to participate.

Their base is whoever votes in the primaries.
It took about 7 years for the Republican party to change from the Bush/Cheney era to full on fascism. The democratic party is not immune to a drastic change (hopefully towards the opposite end of the spectrum), but it won’t happen overnight and people that want this change must get involved. Money allows to promote an agenda, helps with organizing a campaign, but ultimately it’s the people who vote.
It could be a dangerous path indeed, giving the government full access to your phone. I’m not sure the bill says that though.
But I think most people already do… A huge bunch of apps collect everything they can on you; tiktok used to be the worst. I wouldn’t trust a government less than a private company.
I dunno, maybe forcing companies to put (or remove) specific features on their software could set an interesting legal precedent: it could be used to stop companies from pushing features people don’t want or designing apps with dark patterns.
