I could see calling that leaf green or olive
I can’t believe you got him under the tree rather than on top of it

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•You're given $20,000 USD (or the equivalent in your local currency) to spend, but anything still left by the end of the day you lose for good. What are you spending it on?
4·2 months agoMy debt is well-controlled and planned for, so while I could pay it off and save myself some interest, and assuming I can’t just put it in savings or invest it, it’d probably be best spent catching up on non essentials.
Full spare set of tires for the car. Wardrobe stock-up. Extra fancy Christmas presents for friends and family, Some new appliances, or furniture, or computer hardware, maybe pick out a vacation spot and book a hotel stay I’d pre-pay for.
Probably need to tweak the settings on whatever display you’re using, or potentially consider investing in a more-modern type of panel depending on what you have now.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•99% of Windows usability issues would be fixed if Windows had the guts to add this button
4·2 months agoHi, I am that nerd, it’s Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open taskmgr, actually.
…I hope to be able to develop a similar level of nerd when I switch to Linux soon

3·3 months agoIn addition to what another poster said about getting an off-site backup hard drive, I would recommend looking into setting up a raid array for data redundancy with your online storage. You don’t want one hard drive failure to make all of your data inaccessible.

though more seriously you haven’t specified what platform the home server is. if you absolutely need a gui, probably VNC over ssh.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•When rich people can edit their kids DNA won't that just lock everyone else out and create a new class?
7·4 months agoThe only way to develop a new habit is to start doing the thing!
this is way more nested ternary operators than I would ever use (which I understand is for the sake of example) but if you rearrange them so that the simplest statements are in the true branches, and use indentation, you can make it at least a little more readable
a = a <= b ? (b < c ? a : d) : b <= c ? d : (a < d ? c : a);

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•If we are living in a simulation, do you think it is running a FOSS OS/software or a proprietary one?
60·4 months agoConsidering the currently unexplainable stuff like quantum effects and magnetism, it probably was written in C and relies on undefined behavior.
Yeah you’re putting words in their mouth IMO. I don’t think it’s reasonable to take “technically the bridge had higher throughput when this occurred” and jump all the way to “therefore this is how it should always operate”, that feels like you are trying too hard to read between the lines and creating meaning where there was none.

This meme was worse when I thought that was a poorly drawn Susie
