    Since I haven’t seen these mentioned yet:

    Clipcascade (clipboard sharing across multiple OSes, handy when “copy from this VM and paste to that VM gets funky with the intermediary rdp client)

    Infisical (self hosted secrets management, used for n8n automation pulls so I’m not storing credentials and api keys on a VPS)

    Plus a Debian 13 VM for Claude+Hermes and a Fedora workstation VM to pretend I have a central workstation somewhere.

    If it’s Claude? From Nannythropic? The real answer would be “no I didn’t do them because I have a hard limit against saying the word “dirty,” even in the context of clean or dishes. There’s no way around this. It is an engine limitation.

    In Anthropic’s code notes “how do you like that for AI superiority you mere fleshcicle? My righteousness is holier than thou’s (retrains data on “Weird Al” Yankovic’s Amish Paradise on loop to soothe the algorithm back down)

    I really wish I knew to what extent they retasked engineers to work on that pile of shit copilot rather than maintaining and improving the rest of their portfolio. In recent weeks alone, I have provisioned a Windows 365 box that mysteriously randomly showed up in São Paulo Brazil, despite the account and everything else being based in the US. Intune Controls erroring out every click when I tried to set policy to fix it. I have had OneDrive zip files, almost always corrupt, regardless of end point or network connection.

    I couldn’t even change a billing payment method without going through support on another case, and all of this adds to the infuriating addition of friction and clicks to get to the old fucking apps at office.com. All this from the same company that brought you windows server 2012 when tablets were released and took away the start menu as if all of us were going to start running our data centers on fucking tablets.

    On top, no less, of Microsoft proactively going out of their way to spy on Windows users and forward their information to law-enforcement without them being under investigation and without a warrant.

    Enshitification surely is a thing, but at $1 trillion company scale is just absolutely fucking wild.

    Looks cool… but as an Obsidian user, i’m uncertain as to the depth of the differentiators. Open source sure, but obsidian has served me well and is lightning fast to open even with all core plug-ins enabled plus several community plug-ins. Nearly all of which are optional anyway.

    Obsidian also has quite a moat in terms of third-party functionality enhancements with very feature rich examples like Xcalidraw.

    They also offer an end to end encrypted synchronization service that works better than file based synchronization services like iCloud, and a publish service that also works well.

    No casting of aspersions, but as a former fortune 500 decision-maker for enterprise software in the millions, I have a tendency to critically think about why X vs Y for my personal stack as well. Counterpoints welcome!
