This is a pretty bad take. It is the same as saying “I don’t care that these workers are underpaid and overworked - just let me (other people) enjoy the game.” No, bitch. The industry keeps getting worse because people who don’t know or care keep feeding them money. Gaming for many people is an escape from reality, an interactive way for them to escape a rather harsh reality. Morally righteous people can’t stomach when that escape was created or funded by the people they are trying to escape from.

People complain because they are passionate about it. This goes for the entire thread - if you are tired of hearing people bitch about it, don’t just plug your ears. Do something about it or piss off.

This may explain why the same code review feedback needed to be written in every single PR made by our Indian offshore team. Either they didn’t give a shit, were incapable of learning, or used AI (which implies not giving a shit). I don’t understand how people can have so little pride in their work. Makes it a massive pain in the ass to find them on watch/read tracking websites, especially when they have those ~ and 《》in the title (or subtitle). As an avid Manga reader, I have started skipping those series because, more often than not, they are just as uncreative as their titles. SEO or not, a good story will be spread by word of mouth. These writers are just screaming they don’t have confidence in what they are creating.

I am responsible for gathering information on AI to determine whether we should use it for our next project. The ask was to use it for a critical process task. Immediately in my head I was like “no, we are not using AI at all”, but I obviously need quantifiable data. This is just another thing to add to my list of why using AI for core processes is one of the stupidest things you could ever do.

The US music industry has always been bullshit, going all the way back to record labels. I would feel bad for the artists, but I don’t give two shits about the distributor who acts like they own the music and feels entitled to all monetary rewards for someone else’s work.

I live in the US and I dont trust US companies with my data either. They either sell it or are handled by easily exploitable systems developed offshore in India.

So, in that sense I do not trust the US, China, India, or Russia with my data and avoid software developed in any of these places when feasibly possible.

Im fairly quick to block, especially if the person is clearly acting with bad intent. Id rather have slow and steady high quality content than mediocre garbage every few seconds. Social media does not consume my life and I lived in the era of forums. I am used to waiting for good content.

Exactly my thought. I got into software development because designing and writing good code is fun. It is almost a game to see how well you can optimize it while keeping it maintainable. Why would I let something else do that for me? I am a software engineer, not a prompt writer.

AI is actually SUPER good at this and is one of the few places I think AI should be used (as one of many tools, ignoring the awful environmental impacts of AI and assuming an on-prem model). AI is also good at detecting code performance issues.

With that said, all of the fix recommendations should be fixed by hand.
