Here’s a POC of the exploit in action:

I joined Lemmy back in 2020 and have been using it as qaz@lemmy.ml until somewhere in 2023 when I switched to lemmy.world. I’m interested in systemd/Linux, FOSS, and Selfhosting.

To reiterate, GNIS and GNS are only relevant to an appropriately qualified official_name tag, not a name tag, because of the on the ground rule. For this kind of feature, common sense would place a lot of weight on overall common usage, since sending someone to survey the facts “on the ground” would be… difficult.
Yeah that certainly seems difficult
That depends on if you ask the online app (which will cut you off or give you a CCP sanctioned answer) or run it locally (which seems to give a normal answer)
We have 1 unisex bathroom (literally 1 toilet) on the entire campus here, tucked away in a corner. I only ended up finding it by accident in my 3rd year. I personally would be in favor of removing the distinction everywhere, but I doubt that’s going to happen. There was some strange blowback from some people who didn’t like the change. On one hand, it felt pretty weird considering 99% of students didn’t even know of the existence of said toilet before, but it became clearer to me after seeing how it was communicated.
I’m not sure. I think your best bet would be to use a commercial VPN to blend in with the crowd that want to watch Netflix and then connect to TOR, although that does give authorities an excuse to arrest you in many places, but it’s not like they would really need it anyway.
I’m not sure if duplicate servers are supported with AP, I suspect it will cause the posts to be shared twice.
I have been thinking about whether instances also being available on TOR could help, mostly due to Saudi Arabia banning lemmy.blahaj.zone. Commercial VPN’s are apparently something problematic governments detect, so I doubt that accessing the TOR network is safe.
I’m not really expecting any attempts to compromise the servers themselves, I think it’s more likely to see more website blocks like Saudi Arabia did with lemmy.blahaj.zone did some time ago.
A decent amount of the larger servers are hosted outside the US, which might complicates matters. However, many also use Cloudflare (US based) as a proxy, which might make targeting the Fediverse easier.
Perhaps less so if in a couple months it turns out that the contract went to one of Musk’s companies. Having a large amount of money to spend on something intangible can also be very useful.
Perhaps something related to child labour laws making it more complicated to hire minors?
What would the EU think of this?
I don’t care why they got their shit together, I’m happy as long as they fix the open source drivers.
Snap is also useful for server software and it can apparently be used for more low level things such as drivers. Still, it being properiatary is enough for me to avoid it completely.
Are you an admin on lemmy.ca/? If so it might be a good idea to compare IP’s to check if there are other accounts like this.
I hope soon, he hasn’t uploaded since last year
Interesting project
I see a variation of this headline every couple of years, it’s continued existence disproves itself.
I saw it and refreshed the ublock filters and everything works again
They did disclose it to Google before, and got a bounty but it seems the moderators from YouTube didn’t get the memo
