Gerrymandering is a feature of the moldy election system from the 1800s. The US would benefit greatly from moving to proportional representation instead of 1 seat blocks. And getting rid of racists.
I love the vibe of this lyric telling me to enjoy my ordinary life.
This is your life, it’s all been ordinary
Until you find all you’re worth
Then you find your life is all but something ordinary
And you’re longing for home
Your gonna find yourself at homeThe Buzzhorn - Ordinary

1·7 months agoYeah, that idea is left *and probabably authoritarian. For it to work you have to take things from the owners.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If a Great Depression happened again, would people still stand together like they did during the penny auctions?
7·10 months agoWell, if digging a moat was the goal the US certainly is there. Canada will have a field day with European tourists during football world cup.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which is worse: drunk driving or illegal street racing?
7·11 months agoIllegal street racing being more preemptive and calculated is more immoral, unless they block the road to be certain of clear road, but drunk driving is overall worse as they are less in control.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What do you think about the concept of lesser evil? (i.e. when faced with selecting from two immoral options, the less immoral one should be chosen.)
16·11 months agoNo, the First-Past-The-Post system + media polarisation makes it a two party system. If you had proportional election you would have more parties, because the rest votes don’t dissappear. The US election system is from the 1800s and outdated.

I think the intention is to get the profits of automation to the people when more jobs are inevitably automated.
