I agree with you and have even more to add -
Even more fun fact - the taxpayer money that will likely eventually be used to rescue this person, potentially saving their life, is an infinitesimal waste compared to so very many other things. I’m not ever going to shame someone or expect them to be billed/prosecuted/etc for their rescue unless they criminally broke the law in order to arrive at that state. (and maybe not even then)
Can you promise me there will be something other than lies or misinformation coming out of their mouths when I do so this time? Because based on my first hand experience over at least the past 8 years, those are the only two things I’m going to get.
I desperately, desperately, hoped that Germans, Jews, and especially the few remaining holocaust survivors, could somehow articulate this in a way that would penetrate at some point during the past few years.
Nope. We are literally doomed to repeat it.
Without mentioning the name of the poster, I replied to a comment yesterday that said this:
The only reason I voted for him was because we’re on the brink of WW3 and I thought he was truly the last hope of getting the wars settled. I’m scared, and I’m sorry, but shit is crazy right now. Trump at least has some relations with Russia and North Korea, that could potentially cool the pot. Feel free to tell me why I’m wrong, I’m open to discussion.
The tribe is now everyone too stupid to not vote for Hitler, and the tribe sticks together.
And the tribe is 70+ million strong. Let’s not forget that.
If they’d lost in 2020 the Trump nightmare would be ending in a couple months instead of beginning anew.
And here I am thinking Lucy is establishment dems and Charlie Brows is progressives.
This isn’t a world War (in name)
Give it time.
I never thought I’d be living through, what I think of, as a major world event.
I’m an older X-er. I’ve had it up to here with major world events. Boring times. I want to live in BORING TIMES.
but the history books WILL likely bring up this period on the States. In what manner they’re mentioned, good, bad, or indifferent, is yet to be seen.
I feel very sure we can predict in what manner they will be mentioned. The question is how bad will it be.
Kamala trusted that turnout, hoped people will know the work that was done, understand the threat of second Trump presidency, and vote in similar manner again.
Don’t forget running to the right in an attempt to court R voters (just what every D constituent wants!) who (as usual) did NOT show up for her.
If the shoe fits…
You are reading a lot into my comment about implicit biases that is literally just not there.
Have a good day!
I mean, yes, I’m sure there are people who do. There are people who think the earth is flat. They don’t influence policy though.
Edit - my point is, no one is coming for your testes, and knowing someone who thinks it’s a good idea is no better an example here than it would be for me to say I’m worried a flat earther is going to influence space exploration policy.
And if you decline that premise, and just say “I’m not sexist, I treat everyone the same despite gender” you are somehow lying and trying to hide your sexism, which makes you a bad person or something.
We all have implicit biases, this is undeniable. Denying this doesn’t make you a bad person, but you are denying reality. Having the biases doesn’t make you a bad person either - again we all do. But you can’t be mindful of them if you deny they exist.
FWIW I’ve only seen that used to illustrate how ridiculous it is that we find it essentially normal to have laws controlling what women can do with their reproductive systems but not men. I’ve not seen a single credible example of someone seriously suggesting this.
Had 15 year old pre-internet me been suddenly handed even the internet of say 1996 with its far smaller quantity of available porn, but with no gradual transition between my near-pornless world and that, I may very well have found a way to masturbate myself to death before I ever made it out of puberty.
I’m sure all the folks who were quick to ignore or dismiss their clarification of the packaging issue at the time will be just as quick to make comments like these as they were to skewer them then.
Overdrive is the one I usually hear about, but in googling Libby it seems they are related.

Well that does sound pretty cool, I might have to take a closer look when I’m ready for another purchase.
Just like back alley abortions. Both easily avoided by respecting the bodily and reproductive autonomy of women.
