4·3 days agoOh, I see – I guess I’m not sure what you mean by stable here.
switchputs you in the new generation immediately (which can occasionally cause some weirdness) whilebootjust makes it the default generation on the next reboot.

2·3 days agoWhat’s it called in NixOS? I usually just reboot after every update because I don’t trust that everything has properly re-linked and refeshed

5·3 days agoThis is hilariously sad how LLMs aren’t able to be consistent from one prompt to another.
Typically that’s configurable. Like for a chatbot, you’d want it to give the same/similar results for a given question, where with a character creator, you might want the results to vary so you can re-run until you get something you like.
Of course that wouldn’t be as funny here.

8·7 days agoNot only not insane, but actually a great idea, for all the reasons you mentioned, but also because it’ll be x86 where the Pi is ARM, so software compatibility will be that much better.

1·8 days agoHost PieFed instead. I’ve hosted Lemmy and PieFed and Lemmy was a huge pain to set up, and was very resource-heavy. PieFed was a breeze to set up, and the dev team beats Lemmy’s Dev team by a country-mile.

Makes my eye twitch that there’s no MD icon, but I see there’s an issue for it. If I can figure out how to set up a build environment I might be able to help close that.

Ollama + Open web-ui could handle this.
I think MC servers are the #1 gateway drug to self-hosting.
