Hopefully they actually use the pool and don’t end up getting sucked into something on TV.
Host of the podcast Almost Plausible, where I and a couple of friends take an ordinary object (such as a paperclip, eggnog, or a toilet brush) and come up with a movie plot based on that object.

I definitely don’t have as much time as I’d like.
I still remember one of the questions on my written driving test from almost 30 years ago. It was something like:
A group of pedestrians start crossing the road in front of you, just as the light turns green for you. What do you do?
- Honk your horn and yell at them.
- Nothing, just wait for them to finishing crossing.
- Rev your engine to scare them into crossing faster.
- Hit one to teach the rest a lesson.
I was so tempted to pick the last option.

mwproductions@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a movie that "looks like" it would suck, but actually is well written and acted and a good time?3·3 months agoIt’s quite a bad movie, but it did inspire the creation of my podcast, so I don’t hate it.
mwproductions@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Bad film with amazing premise and mediocre execution that you can't stop thinking about?1·4 months agoI’m surprised how many people in the comments have (A) seen this movie, and (B) liked it. I didn’t care for it, although I do like the basic premise.
The timing of your comment is a kind of a funny coincidence for me, because over the past few days I’ve been editing the next episode of my podcast, which will come out on Tuesday, and in it I mention Time Trap a couple times. Maybe the film is having a moment?
Don’t forget the potty humor and lack of volume control.
ETA: It occurs to me it’s not clear if I’m talking about the baby or YouTubers.
Yeah, most of these aren’t funny, but this one is great. Perhaps because of the less funny ones leading up to this.

There is a Son of Ernest movie being developed–at least in theory. It was announced over a decade ago, though, so maybe it’s dead?

It’s like if someone from Mexico asked what sriracha is and I replied, “it’s like the Thai version of Tapatío.” Is it perfect? No, there’s way more nuance, but it gets them most of the way toward understanding.

Heist (2001)
I like all of Mamet’s films, but Heist is head and shoulders above the rest, IMO. Besides being a well written heist film with a great cast, it rewards rewatching. I’ve watched it so many times, but the last time I watched it, I caught a new detail I hadn’t noticed before.
