The alleged “difficulty” of installing Gentoo is just about reading docs and waiting for it to compile stuff, it’s no rocket science as you people are trying to FUD.

To be fair E always had great potential (I recall reading somewhere some car makers use it in their infotainment UIs), but alas doesn’t have the manpower to keep it at the same pace as some other DEs, even much newer than it. If I were Xfce and got the last straw of the GNOME-ization of GTK I’d rewrite all my shit with the E libraries - hell, it would be awesome if those two merged together.

Usually such things have a simple explanation. systemd does a lot with time and date, for example scheduling tasks. It’s quite obvious that it has this capabilities, when you think about it.

I still can recall the MSN/Hotmail profiles - it was kind of a news feed that recorded all your statuses from MSN (or you could add your own there). Your contacts could add comments on those. I seem to recall at some point you could add posts with pictures too.

But all of that just disappeared when they ditched MSN.

They could’ve beat Facebook in its own game easily, as they had the advantage of their huge userbase - but somehow they missed on that too.
