  • It’s models are literally open source.

People have this fear of trusting the Chinese government, and I get it, but that doesn’t make all of china bad. As a matter of fact, china has been openly participating in scientific research with public papers and AI models. They might have helped ChatGPT get to where it’s at.

Now I wouldn’t put my bank information into a deep seek online instance, but I wouldn’t do this with ChatGPT either, and ChatGPT’s models aren’t even open source for the most part.

I have more reasons to trust deep seek as opposed to chatgpt.

  • Omfg I’m gonna stab someone. How the hell are they trying to use autism as an explanation?

This is not how any of this works. You don’t start stimming in a perfect right wing gesture. He never did something like this before in public. He also doesn’t look startled or anything.

I’m mad now. How did this chipmunk become a government advisor? I want him to trip on Lego so bad.

  • I mean there’s a million eyes on them, they’re either gonna get the right or the whole DA is gonna be in a world of shit.

If it comes out they intentionally framed someone cause they couldn’t find the right guy, there’s no way this won’t come out. Already disregarding the heightened likelyhood on jury nullification and general unwillingness for the public to cooperate.

There’s so many news stations in proximity and so many people who’d speak out in a nanosecond, they can’t even get to fuck around before they find out.

  • As a German, this the insane things our parents, grandparents and institutions warned us about. People begrudgingly accepted their lead in the hopes that “although it’s an authoritarian, maybe he will take care of our goals”. What followed was the cruelty of 1939 to 1945 and no one deserves to live through that, not even the idiots that got us in this mess.

  • Unfortunately OP is right.

Here’s some alternatives that use the same base as Mozilla, and maybe they might pick up the shards soon: Waterfox, LibreWolf, Mullvad Browser

Considering Manifest V3 in Chromium and how the browser kit is forcing quite a few things on us there’s also a solid chance people will independently rework the chromium base into a new web browser toolkit soon, but we’ll have to see. Either way, next few years will undoubtedly bring a lot of change to the browser landscape.

  • in full compliance with the letter and the spirit of copyright law

That is some real semantic acrobatics. The law is supposed to follow societal norms and reflect boundaries accordingly. Yeah, AI laws take time, and obv there hasn’t been enough legislation done. That said, the EU for example already has a law for AI but the member states need to adapt that into national laws now.

There is law here. And even though I’m sure what they are doing rn will be illegal or at least very heavily regulated in the future, they might be doing something illegal today. Depending on how eager governments are to litigate, this might already get dicey in the coming months.
