I’m on fedora 41 and gaming is almost perfect on it, the final hurdles are some VRR refinements and HDR. These are supposedly coming in f42 so I’d rather not wait god knows how long on Debian for these features to show up. However once the features arrive and I run into issues with F42, I’ll consider Deb.

Look when full path tracing becomes playable easily on a 60 series mainstream level card, I’d be all for devs spending their time on it. Until then what’s the point? I have a 4080 and not a single path tracing game runs in playable framerate/resolution

Yeah I’m still familiarising myself with Linux at the moment, the choices are endless! I’m using the os for gaming and productivity. So essentially setting up Plex and Emulator plus Steam based gaming. Lutris has been amazing.

I’ve now tried Mint and Nobara KDE and Gnome variants. With Gnome 47, the scaling issue is fixed so it’s the nicest looking and with Nobara Gnome I’m getting solid performance too. Just one final thing I need to - HDR!

Jokes aside - I was planning to do a Linux build, does that mean I should skip Ubuntu and go Mint? I’m going to be using the build for media and gaming (emulation)

You know how it is said words have power? The N word was used derogatively to refer to black people. I imagine black people grew real tired of that shit real quick. But over time, they fought back by depriving the derogatory nature of the N word by using it to refer to each other harmlessly. They owned the N word. Now, it is considered extremely respectful for anyone who is not black to not use that word to refer to black people without permission. Why? Because in being respectful to not using that word, you are acknowledging the plight of a generation of black people. That’s real classy.
