  • I remember ages ago hearing/reading that after about 15 -20 mins of not being able to fall asleep, it actually becomes detrimental to keep trying and they recommended doing exactly what you do.

    A quiet activity that requires no to little light. That is not stimulating, washing dishes was a specific activity that stuck out in my mind. Folding laundry, wiping down counters, brushing your teeth again is another one I’ve read that some people have success with. (Or some other bed routine step)

    And btw ‘your’ blue light filter is NOT enough. idk why I get almost offended at the people who brush off light sleep disruption like the built in tint is enough.



  • They do not send in SWAT for wellness checks

    In a Nov. 18 letter filed in federal court, attorneys for The New York Times named Balaji as someone who had “unique and relevant documents” that would support their case against OpenAI. He was among at least 12 people — many of them past or present OpenAI employees — the newspaper had named in court filings as having material helpful to their case, ahead of depositions.

    Unless stuff starts happening to those people, or there is some detail I missed in the article, it is much more plausible that this was suicide than some corporate hit, let alone one carried out using police violence? Is that what you were implying?






  • As someone who has had to confront homeless people with questionable mental health and/or sobriety; it’s fucking hard. You want a safe space for them but then quickly that space becomes unsafe for everyone around. But also… it isn’t hard just fucking talk to them. I have many times Don’t stop being smart but stop being afraid. Fear of the other breeds so much hate and misery

    Oh if it isn’t obvious I support benches in public spaces and heavily condemn anti-houseless architecture/city planning
