Cashapp has terminated my account for less (honestly IDK why, can’t get a response and I’ve only had like 3 transactions on there from people in my contacts)
I got my entire Snapchat gc (15 people) and a little more to switch. The key isn’t dropping an announcement of “hey I’m moving”, you talk to each person individually; starting with the most likely to switch. Then go up the line, share who you’ve already got to join if you’re met with resistance. if you save the most difficult people for last, telling them almost everyone else is already there is usually enough.
If someone along the way has refused to move for the time being, you can revisit them later after you’ve got more people to move. I didn’t 100% nail my judgement of who would and who wouldn’t, but I was able to go back and revisit those who didn’t.
If you can, reach out to people in person; I got a few this way. You have to express that you will not be accessible otherwise and will only be present on signal moving forward. It helps if you have a reputation for following through :3
Likely not everyone is going to move over. I’ve accepted that there’s some people I probably won’t end up talking to ever again. I’ve got my main group over, the ones that actually respect that I want more security (and less clown-show shit that Snapchat has)
Human nature wants to stay put, you have to have some strategy or it won’t work.
Also a lot of people are pissed at Meta for lobbying for TikTok’s ban. Use that with the relevant people, if applicable
#1 Reason I still root is for adaway #2 reason is spite because Google thinks they own my phone
A fine addition to my collection
LG and Samsung TVs were already on my “do-not-buy” list with their ad ridden UIs, sounds like they’re just getting worse. Only a matter of time before they require you to connect them to the Internet to use them
I’m still quite excited for matrix as well, but it’s nowhere near the polish of Signal ATM and it’s not something I’d want to be tech support for 15-ish people on
I’m still incredibly frustrated they did that. I often heard “I’ll just text you” in reply to “I’m leaving snap”. Having an all-in-one app would’ve made that so much easier.
I just fought tooth and nail to get my friends from Snapchat to signal, I dread trying to move them from discord to anywhere else
Been avoiding nzxt for years after I bought an H1 and it was a heaping pile of shit. PSU, AIO, and the included riser all failed within about a year of use. They sent my a replacement AIO with no fans and no mounting hardware (I missed that the bracket was still on, they did warn to take any accessories off but the fan was zip tied from the factory). Same with the PSU which they sent with no cables, which was visibly a different model than what I had cables for before, after arguing for a month to try and get them to send me anything. Didn’t even bother with the riser, moved to a different case and just advised my friends against buying from them
Calendar depends on it. Even in windows 11, mail and calendar accounts in settings don’t function right if mail (& calendar) is removed
They’ve got a long way to go, but as a lifelong Android user, I have to commend Apple for the improvements they’ve (undoubtedly have been forced to) make thusfar.
I’ve been using the Zen fork of Firefox and have been enjoying it greatly. It’s still pretty early, and a lot of the Firefox issues are still there, but regardless it’s felt better than any other browser I’ve used lately.
And since it’s Firefox, it’s unaffected by he Mv3 bullshit
Personally I’ve used Western Digital, Seagate, and PNY drives with no failures. Stay away from anything HP branded; they don’t actually produce drives but rather rebadge other failure-prone models and make it damn near impossible to claim any warranty.
I’ve had a Samsung Evo drive fail on me, but warranty was pretty easy. I’ve also had a PNY 2.5" ssd that has never failed on me, but I did break the connector off accidentally. Warranty was actually ridiculously easy on that, despite it being entirely user error.
If data is mission critical, it’s worth shelling out extra; stay away from any cheap brands (HP, SanDisk, etc) and opt for the higher end models in reputable brands (Eg WD Red, Purple, and Gold vs Green and Blue, or Seagate Ironwolf or Firecuda)
These are my own personal experiences. Others will have better/worse experiences and I encourage you to seek out others’ experiences and options, as well as others to add their own
Friendly reminder that Lexar isn’t Micron anymore and was acquired by Longsys. I’ve had reliability issues with their products since

Because at this point, if you’re still on it you’re taking it up the ass from Canonical
…yknow other languages than English exist right?

FYI an MBR table with a fat32 partition is probably what it was looking for. If that doesn’t work odds are the port is broken
