It’s a mastodon server. I don’t want them spending money on that anyways. They should be focusing on the browser, not social media infrastructure.

They are nerds who care about other things than their operating system. That’s like wondering why they also don’t build their own networks down there and self host everything. Those are particular hobbies that don’t interest the vast majority of people, nerd or otherwise.

The answer is actually corporate greed and synthesized hype for what’s probably a pretty quality piece of equipment if you remove all the enshitification from it.

I think it may have been a misstatement. I’ve never heard folks talk about being younger millennials, just elder millennials and regular ol run of the mill millennials.

In the case of abuse at home should the school tell the parents if the kids report it? Where do you draw the line for privacy and what difference does it make if the parents are aware their kid gos by different pronouns at school? Why do so many people look at kids like they are property…? And this is coming from someone who can’t stand being around kids most of the time…

You should read up on juvenoia (sp?). Vsauce did a great video on the topic. Helps keep you grounded when you struggle with the thoughts of are the kids wrong or am I just out of touch. Spoiler, they are no more wrong than we ever were as kids, and yes we are out of touch with the youth. But it’s all ok as long as you accept that there can be things you don’t understand or that just aren’t meant for you.

That’s the problem. They shouldn’t be worried about profit. The fact that education and health are completely focused on profit in the US really demonstrates how far we’ve gone down a wrong path. (I’m not a talkie or even a leftist for the record, just hate unfettered capitalism)
