Congratulations, you speak dog language.
Seen it in the Caribbean, I expect it’s plenty common in places where the sun is a deadly laser.
I didn’t know that Kevin from JYD had dyslexia or pottery skills.
New battery is cheap. Subaru headgaskets are not.
The squirrels on campus back in the day were so used to people. We’d go with a bag of peanuts and they would all come running. Some would sneak in and steal them out of the bag, others would eat them out of your hand, a couple would go wherever you led them, including on top of my head or in the palm of my outstretched hand. And then sit there and eat the peanuts.

Live and learn. You won’t make the same mistake again.
Yes, I just read it. I blame society.
I don’t even know what you’re talking about, but whatever it is, you’re still here (in a “cosmic” sense, if you feel like fucking off from fediverse, you do you), and that’s what matters.
If you manage to find one, there’s a modification you can do to it so that it will also take US quarters. Mine seems to have already had that modification before I got it, so I can’t say how involved it is, but I don’t think it’s too hard.
$75, and it works. Well … worked, it’s being weird now, but I’m sure it’s mechanical, I just haven’t gotten to looking at it.
Oh I wasn’t trying to be argumentative with you at all. Just talking.
I bought an old pachislo machine from a garage sale because … I’m not real sure, but I have one of those now.
There’s a reason I used the word “ideally”. While there are absolutely worse prison systems in the world, the US prison system cannot be described as “ideal”.
I mean … yeah. If it’s a thing you must have, then it should not be for profit. Staple foods definitely qualify.
To be perfectly clear, when I say “not for profit” I mean that the costs of plant and equipment, administration, materials, logistics, labor, etc. are all paid for out of revenue - and a small fixed percentage to go into a fund to ward against variations in revenue, so that the business and its employees can continue to provide the public good and earn a living even in lean times.
Necessary public services should not be for profit. Yes, I know that framing prisons as “necessary public services” is a bit weird, but ideally, that’s what it is.
Triumph@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something that, after you had it, you immediately wanted another?2·7 days agoYou’re not gonna believe this but … I fucking knew it. That is exactly the one that first came to mind, and I am ashamed that I didn’t just blurt it out before.
I’ve had a whole lot of different scotches and whiskies, and Balvenie is hands down the best. Dalwhinnie is another good one along those lines, if you’re looking to compare.
For early EVs, where the battery life is “relatively short” (think 100K miles), yes. But ICE engine life up until about the late 80s was around that, too. Now it’s more like 200K miles before a major engine repair costs more than it’s worth doing. EV batteries are getting to around the same 200K mile threshold, and while the battery replacement will be expensive, it’ll be the same “not wortht the cost, time to buy a new car” that a comparable ICE car would be.
