English truly is a terribly confusing language.
I also have to get 9-10 hours to be fully refreshed, which was quite difficult when living and working in the US.

18·6 days agoConsenting to recording makes recording legal.
Making that consent required to use the TV or its features and it being buried within lengthy, opaque terms of service in a country with a low level of literacy should be illegal, but it stands in the US because it’s a consumer hostile country.

3·17 days agoIf you’re ever in Bologna, Piedra del Sol has legitimate Mexican food. Finding a place with freshly made tortillas and proper margaritas was a pleasant surprise.
I unfortunately drove Uber for a bit back in the late 2010s until I got tired of being sexually harassed. Drivers do get paid the cleaning fee, but the rideshare services were becoming increasingly stringent about their requirements for paying it. The issue was threefold.
People would soil vehicles then dispute the cleaning charges with their credit card, so Uber would be out whatever was paid to the driver. Last I knew, this was a maximum of $225, but capped at $80 if the driver did the cleaning. Good luck finding a professional cleaner that charges less than $225 for cleaning seats smeared with vomit or feces.
Next, drivers would fake vomit or feces and file a report, causing their prior passengers to be charged a cleaning fee.
Ultimately, the ride share services tightened up their methods for both charging and refunding these fees to the detriment of both drivers and riders because they’re soulless, capitalist pig fuckers that only care about profit.

3·20 days agoI can scarcely tell the difference between 2160p and 1440p, and 1440p and 1080p unless I’m actively looking, though I am in my fifth decade so my eyes aren’t what they used to be. I’ve found lower resolution with better settings to generally be better than the converse.
I’ve been using a 3080 for years and plan to keep using it until it goes to meet my Voodoo 5 in the great recycling bin in the sky. I’m lucky enough to have a second x16 slot so I picked up a 100€ used GPU for LSFG. Instant doubled frame rate, so now I’m good through 2035.

34·20 days agoNo, they’re suggesting that selling a three pronged extension with disconnected ground is illegal. It is illegal and with good reason. A grounded device with a faulty ground can kill someone.
