  • Most are specially bred to produce specific styles of fresh produce, like bananas, but this was the first company I’d heard of that removed the ability to propagate. (Aside from seedless stuff like watermelon/grapes) You can go to Japan and get one of the hundred dollar strawberries and you could technically keep the seeds. Lettuce, onion, garlic, tomatoes, peppers, berries, bananas, ginger, potatoes, corn; almost everything can grow from leftover cooking scraps. Plants are resilient.

Chopping the top off, is capitalism at its worst. I can understand not allowing another company to sell the genetically modified produce, but cutting off the top lowers the shelf life and makes it impossible to re-grow. It’s pure greed… especially when it can take 3+ years for a pineapple to produce more fruit.

Woot! I’ve been poor all my life, so I have experience gardening and foraging. I know the difference between poison hemlock and wild carrot, I can identify herbs that can heal, I know how to choose the best trees for food from syrup to bark bread, and I know which fruits and veggies grow best in which area

I’m also a mortician, so went through 4 years of INTENSE medical education, fighting against the students trying to become doctors. (I hate bell curves) I can cleanly dissect a body, know about ailments/diseases/biohazards, I’m not afraid of blood or wounds, can stitch up lacerations, and know which parts of the body to hit and bring an enemy down… probably should have led with that

  • Don’t forget that Medicaid and Social Security Disability still have the same $2,000 MAX asset limit (aside from a car and low-value residence). Back in 1974, that was a down payment on a house. Now that isn’t enough to rent a place to live, not enough to fix a car, and if you somehow have more than $2k in assets,( (DHS does bank and tax monitoring) they take your medical and food away, despite being disabled. If adjusted for inflation, it would be about $13k. Enough to put a down payment on a small house. A 2k limit enough for people with disabilities is BARBARIC.

I’ve written to so many politicians about this archaic rule and Lisa McClain told me that it’s that low, so that only the truly destitute use it… despite us paying taxes all our lives to protect us from starving. I was told that the disabled weren’t as important as older voters who deserve retirement disability.

  • I have a degree in postmortem science and hobby in anthropology/archeology/paleontology. The biggest extinction event this globe has ever seen, the Permian Extinction, where over 90% of ALL life (96% of ocean life) went extinct, was from pollution and a mere 10°C increase in global temperature. That’s all it took to decimate life on earth. The pollution and heat came from volcanoes, but we are on the same path. It’s already gone up 1.6°C… I do think humanity will survive, but not the majority of us.

Some of my family doesn’t believe in climate change, and/or is religious to the point that they don’t believe in carbon dating and core sample data. I wish I could make them believe, but no data in the world will work.

I was part of a documentary on the largest fires in recorded history and so many were within the last 10 years it was terrifying. One in the forests of Russia was still ongoing when the doco was finished and RELEASED!

  • Ouch! I’m so sorry!

For the bending backwards scale on the knees and elbows, anything past 180° counts. My knees and elbows curve back pretty far. The more severe the degree, the more severe the EDS, normally. Also, get checked for Cardiac EDS. It’s the most deadly. It’s basically EDS for veins and arteries. EDS also leads to the conditions where POTS forms and that’s its own can of worms

  • You’re in luck! I volunteer as a Disability advocate for EDS and Rising Voices of Narcolepsy. There’s a test for EDS called the Beighton Scale. If you have all 9, it’s a guarantee for the hypermobile type of it called hEDS. Even if you’ve got 5-6 on the scale, you probably have it. 9 is the worst, what I have. I’ve needed multiple surgeries and was designated as fully disabled by a judge in my early 20s.

Having answers brings peace of mind, but what’s even more important is that your treatments will change. People with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome ABSOLUTELY CANNOT use the antibiotics in the Cipro family. It causes vein collapse, circulatory system leakage, and aortic aneurysms. It can kill you. You also can’t do most stretches, so Yoga is a no go and physical therapy can only focus on strengthening your injured areas.

Here’s the test. Hope it helps!

  • Yup! Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is a BITCH. I was diagnosed in 2014 and I wish I could go back in time and scream at younger Shelby to quit gymnastics, quit cheerleading, and quit my job as a contortionist… on the outside, I look healthy and even do boudoir for a living, but my doctor says my ligaments are similar to someone in their late seventies. It’s hard when you look “normal” because everyone assumes you’re faking it.

  • Yup, a lot of my cosplay/fashion designer friends have had their work stolen and they can’t do anything because it’s international and they can’t afford an attorney with their small business income.

Those cat paw socks, Danielle Baloo at Toe Beanies created them, several years ago and in the process of getting a patent, they were copied by Alibaba sellers. She was denied her Kickstarter campaign for drop-shipping, and had to fight for months, proving she was the original designer. Screw people who steal designs. She worked her ass off and they’re selling her work with cheap foam that’s not safe for human skin… I constantly report them.

It’s because it’s a data stealing company. They require 24 different types of permissions, including keylogging, biometrics (your fingerprint), your wifi network, your Bluetooth, photos, contact info and it saves your payment details, just by using the app. It also was recently flagged for malware. You’re getting a good price because you’re paying for it in a different way
