It has gotten more difficult. I remember windows 7 being just clicking Next until it was done. Win10 requires a signup, clicking no on several telemetry pages with dark patterns, a whole bunch of BS “features”.

I’d say that is above windows. R-ing the FM is quite essential to arch or gentoo.
That doesn’t really matter too much and is mostly personal preference.
The biggest difference is which package manager and how up to date each program in there is. Arch and OpenSuse Tumbleweed will have quite up to date packages as they’re rolling release models while Mint and Ubuntu tend to be a bit slower and more stable.
I suggest going through the installation process of Arch linux at least once because it does teach you the basics of Linux but for usability you’d be better off with a distro that has a GUI installer.
Corporate crapware changing the layout every 3 months and “streamlining the UI” is by far my biggest annoyance.
If the search function actually worked it could be passable.
I don’t mind teams for chatting or meetings but I hate sharepoint and the Teams file “structure” with a passion.
I would design the pack with a thermal fuse of about 60 degrees C stuck between each 3 cells.
This way if one of those crappy cells start overheating the fuse should prevent it from going into thermal runaway.

Any distro will do. I suggest using one that has a complete installer like Mint or OpenSuse and then use KDE Plasma as desktop, which closely resembles Windows.
Like a cat dancing on a keyboard.

It’s a little bit more nuanced than that. Yes you’re denying ad revenue but it’s not a bad thing.
Wasn’t that bad IMO.
Pretty sure it’s just for bragging rights.
That’s how it is in the company I work for. They aren’t strict about it though, we are supposed to be in office 3/5 days but some people barely make 1/5 . As far as I know nobody cares as there is no tracking system yet.
Deezer Free randomly became unavailable a few weeks ago in the Netherlands.
