Relevant af… Been flirting with the idea of finally buying pro DJ gear after like 16 years of being a DJ. Have done a jillion weddings, and a healthy dose of misc functions from corporate shindigs, galas, house parties, bars, etc…

Have limped along so far by borrowing gear whenever I had a proper gig (plenty of friends in the scene) but now I have some fun money budget. The spicy pro gear is soooo stupidly expensive but about time I had real gear off my own. The cereal box bedroom toy deck only gets you so far.

Sounds exactly like what I’d be doing if I was a pilot 🤣

Obviously still has fair share of dumb stuff happening with these systems today, but there have been some big steps in just the last few years. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was much spookier a decade from now.

In general, good to use as a tool to be taken with grain of salt and further review.

Fully, a MASSIVE amount of what I’m into now came from Tony Hawk games and [adult swim] and the trajectory that put me on. [adult swim] was for sure the MTV of my generation.

By the time I was watching MTV, it was still some TRL and music vids, but also a big dose of Room Raiders, etc… And it eventually fell out of fashion. [AS] definitely had their finger on the pulse of what the cool cats were to tho. Such a hip scene. I still vividly recall a bump for Boondocks featuring Flying Lotus’ song Massage Situation that felt mind blowing.

Weird to think where I’d be without either.

Lolol I also own a bidet, regularly clean, and apparently eat more fiber than some of y’all. 😂

Juuust skip that fridge step. Take slices out the freezer when you wake up. Slices thaw by the time your morning ritual is done and you’re ready for brekky. If toasting anyways, don’t even really need to wait for thaw. No stale fridge taste you need to get used to.

How long did that last for ya, if you don’t mind my asking?

I’ve been in glasses/contacts since like 3rd grade? 5th grade? Somewhere in there. Always liked the idea of being able to wake up with perfect vision every day, but also wanted to wait for tech and techniques to develop a bit more. Figured there’s a sweet spot for the procedure where I’ll have the benefit during my squirrelly years.

Hitting them mid 30s now so I’m considering the procedure again. If I could get at least a solid decade or so before needing lenses again, feels fairly worth it. How has your experience been with it?

I’m flummoxed for sure. I need a computer to be a bit of a power house, ideally well equipped for music production software and live performance, DJ software, graphic design/animation/illustration, and at least for the desktop gaming. Been in the market for a laptop so I can take at least the music & design production on the go, but damn I hate laptop shopping.

Unsuuuure if Linux is compatible with the graphic/music production software I’m working with, or if there are viable work arounds. Windows 11 looks like a dumpster fire I do not wish to support. I’d really like to avoid Apple as I have my own grievances there too. Windows 10 obviously seems on the way out.

Long story long, feeling a bit lost on how best to proceed. If anyone uses Linux for similar creative endeavors, would love to hear your roses and thorns on the matter. Certainly open to recommendations for a sturdy war horse of a lappy as well.
