Keep the proles out.
Why?
The internet at large is still a cesspool.
The only difference is who is in control of it.
Removing outside sources of information? There are a few countries that already do this, and they’re not great places to live.
I deleted Threads five days ago.
It was a cesspool of (Russian? Troll Farm?) propaganda attacking Harris for not having any accomplishments for the last four years, complaining about housing, grocery, egg, and gas prices, “fixing” America, a crapton of pro-jesus stuff, pro-Elon comments and reposts, government money going to “illegals” instead of hurricane victims, and a ton of made up lies. …
All of which were as transparent as fuck why they were wrong. VP’s don’t make policy, so what accomplishments should she have? Housing has been going up for a decade+, it’s not new, egg prices were normal while the pics were of organic egg prices and expensive grocery carts had hidden high cost items or just straight up lied about the cost, gas prices are the lowest they’ve been for years. Jesus stuff praised trump, America, tons of AI generated “holy” trump pics, bashed atheists, posted Elon’s BS pseudo-wisdom, Ignored the $20Bn spent on hurricane relief in favor of a few hundred million housing the undocumented workers living in the affected area…
It was infuriating. Because they were so obviously wrong…blatantly, in-your-face, completely fucking wrong. It was a constant flood of lies. Eight out of nine posts were BS.
But as soon as the election swung in Trump’s favor…poof…it went quiet. Hardly a peep. Gone.
And I realize that Threads was captured completely by troll farm bots spewing right-wing propaganda. And it was a waste of time. So my account will be deleted.
He also bought 9% of it and didn’t disclose it, IIRC that had something to do with it as well.
Says a person who thinks they’ll never see the front line, the soup line, or the inside of a concentration camp.
I generally round up to nearest bigger number or close to that. $19.99 is $20. $23.99 would probably be $25. $180 would just be $200.
No real rhyme or reason, just the bigger the number the more I fudge the “real” price upwards thanks to sales tax and a “can I really afford this?” factor.
My comment was in reference to social media, which this post is referring to along with bots, and if it is bots, my comment was regarding a shift in focus - blaming Gen X instead of boomers.
Ah, the new propaganda has started, and they’re attacking Gen X for whatever reason? Guess the boomers are dying off and someone needs a new scapegoat? Seeing a lot of variations on “Thanks to Gen X for screwing up (insert whatever)”. Not sure what the value of it is. Gen X didn’t really have much of a shot at making any long-reaching policy, the boomers stayed in charge for as long as they could hang on to everything and created pretty much all the issues we’re facing now. Gen X never much of a shot, they just kept telling us to turn on the TV and eat the TV dinners.
It’s been a firehose of propaganda for weeks.
Same on Threads.
Everything went quiet.
I would love to see these accounts, when they were opened, when they ceased posting, what they posted, and what the IP addresses were.
Unless anyone here has spent time on other social media platforms that are unfiltered you really don’t have a clue what a cesspool of troll farm propaganda that has been pouring out for the last several months.
And it all stopped last night.
Non-stop made-up bullshit blaming Harris for the last four years for some completely undefined fault, high fuel prices even though they’re down, grocery prices, inflation, cost of housing, etc. etc. Just a steady sewer pipe drain of dreck for months. I bet Putin got his money’s worth.
Took my first drive as a passenger in a FSD Tesla the other day. I was rapidly underwhelmed. I mean, yeah…it’s pretty cool the car drives itself, to an extent. But even as a passenger I was struck by the number of times I would have taken the wheel and made the car do what it was supposed to. Hesitant pulling forward to turn, hesitant pulling out into traffic after a turn, wrong speed for the road, abrupt turns… Did it get us there? Sure. Did it do a good job? Mid at best. Probably better as an anti-fatigue measure on highway drives instead of taking you places in town. I would not pay for FSD were I to own a Tesla…at least it seems really inappropriate for the kind of driving I do.
But Tesla will gladly keep charging a lot of money for FSD.
Well, yes. That is true.
Yes. The shuttle was both rocket and spacecraft, obviously controllable for landing. The Shuttle SRBs were reusable. They were not controllable for landing, but nonetheless they did land in a state that allowed reuse.
Musk achieved powered flight for landing his rockets, but even NASA had a long history of research with VTOL powered rockets that were not used for spaceflight.
He can certainly claim to have perfected it, but he certainly didn’t invent it.
An enlightened pessimist.
How contemptible.
And you would still need to pay extra to watch the newest or older titles even if you subscribed to every service, and there are plenty of movies that just aren’t available regardless of which service you subscribe to.
It’s all enshittified.
