Sure, the effort to set up an actual working thing will always be more than setting up a broken thing.

2·3 days agoManagers still need to approve it and it’s their discretion to decide if someone is taking the piss or not.
I recently found out one of my managers was just arbitrarily not approving more than 30 days off in a year and he got a good bollocking for it.
So far nobody had actually taken the piss with it, if anything people end up taking less.
The only drawbacks to having actual security cameras is when you trust your data to a 3rd party known to use your data for evil.
If you record things locally, there’s really zero drawbacks.

6·8 days agoWe also have public holidays (We call them all Bank Holidays for historical reasons, but it’s things like Christmas, Easter and a couple of others), there’s usually 8 in a year and that’s on top of your 20 days.
Employers can make you work a bank holiday, you just get another day off instead. So really it’s 28 days holiday per year, with 8 of them being the public ones that you may or may not have to work.
My employer gives us 30 + the Bank Holidays, then we got took over by an American firm which ironically introduced unlimited PTO.

3·8 days agoI have no idea, I assume so given it’s using the word “vacation” which is predominantly an American term that they do and that the very concept is just less popular since they typically get much fewer “vacation” days, they probably try to make the most of their time off.
I have no clue though, I’m just making shit up at this point.

1·8 days agoYup and with there usually being 8 bank holidays in a year, that’s where the extra 8 comes from.

62·8 days agoI don’t know if this is satire or rage bait but ironically it’s almost certainly a UK individual as he refers to them as “Bank holidays” and the 28 days is only about 8 above the statutory minimum of 20 + bank holidays.

15·8 days agoThe explosion of scam coins was basically inevitable, it’s what you get with zero regulation.
“Why should people want to play the games they want to play” is the weirdest argument to take.
It’s not like Linux is 1:1 compatible with everything on windows. Maybe you play a game with kernel anticheat, you don’t have a choice in the matter. There’s no reason to just be a dick about it.
This meme isn’t asking people to learn anything, it’s just shitting on windows users.
Before we start rolling out conspiracy theories and such, let’s all apply a little Occam’s razor to this.
The simplest explanation is that OP is full of shit.
To this day I still feel superior for knowing how to use the T9 when everyone else was mashing buttons like plebs.
Everyone needs to watch BoJack. Everyone needs that trauma in their life.

1·1 month agoYou’ve been making shit up since this whole debate started. You’re the textbook definition of “perfection is the enemy of good enough” because 99% of people will find that a VPN is good enough but according to you they’re worthless.

2·1 month agoPlease don’t tell me what I am focusing on, when I haven’t even said it
I literally quoted you, so don’t try playing the “I never actually said that” card.
It’s ironic that you’re now complaining about context and strawmen when you yourself started it with the whole “anyone who wants to know who you are…” argument. This mysterious “anyone” is the ultimate strawman because they’re anonymous and all encompassing. Meanwhile, you have zero idea what anyone wants from their VPN’s so you’re making the broad, sweeping statements while lacking any context yourself.

2·1 month agoA dumb take is, to pay for something you might get nothing from
And which VPN provider is it you’re getting “nothing” from? There seems to be a budding market for VPN’s out there, lots of people are paying for them and continue to do so, why do you think that is? Because the whole world is stupid and it’s a pointless waste of money? Or because they are actually in fact getting some kind of use from them?
VPN’s have a myriad of uses, you’re focusing on some ambiguous nation-state attacker tracking you down for whatever reason. Meanwhile, quite a lot of users would just like to watch porn without having to submit ID. I’d say they’re getting plenty of use out of their VPN for that.

7·1 month agoYes locks on your door are pointless because if someone wants to break into your house they’re going to do it once way or another, especially if you leave the window open
This is a dumb take.

There are already several reserved IP ranges for this kind of purpose, like 198.51.100.0/24 or 203.0.113.0/24.
