I’ve heard some pretty gruesome tales of bear attacks. I think these women are underestimating how bad being mauled by a bear could be.

I strongly disagree. Children have no frame of reference, they’ll watch whatever is on. When I was young I watched a lot of Hanna-Barbera cartoons and they were made decades before I was born.
