suck air through a shag carpet.
Welp, that’s a new euphemism.

Yeah, and your head should rest up on it, hence the name and all that. It is there for that rear-ended collision. If you are leaned way forward, now it’s just something for you to hit, but if you are headresting, it’ll absorb some of the impact and prevent (or reduce) that cervical spine injury. Anytime I’m at a stop, especially in traffic, I try to remind myself to put my head back, just in case. It’ll be the time I forget that I get rear-ended though.
I have been very fortunate to have good service for essentially the entirety of my life of broadband. Only going back to when optimum first showed up, they were the only game in town, and it would have issues during times of day when there was too much traffic at the node. Since FiOS showed up (not to shill), it’s honestly been phenomenal, when you put aside the typical bullshit the providers pull. The actual service of packets in packets out, or whatever the Internet is, has been great.
I have great service. I just hate that I have to play the game of “pretending to cancel”.
Damn, in English we can say one “shit the bed,” but I might need to adapt this Spanish phrase and start saying I shit the milk.
I enjoyed it, burned through all four. I had read The Realm of the Elderling series by Robin Hobb and decided to take a break from the more traditional fantasy. Did Mistborn, then Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, before getting into the Bobiverse. PHM into Bobiverse was a pretty seamless transition. I’ve since moved back to traditional fantasy, because I like my reading to be as exclusive of real life as possible.
I feel like the Bobiverse handled this well, in that any super intelligent computer would immediately look at us and desire to fuck right off to outer space.
Hey, I made a bunch off a penny stock once time. Ignore that I’ve invested in penny stocks more than once.
For real. Middle class was a low but comfortable bar back in 1987 when I was born. My parents went above and beyond having two incomes, one of them being a small business. I do essentially the same thing as my mom small business wise, and my wife makes arguably more than my old man dad, but the thought of doubling our starter home (or even moving out of it) just hasn’t crossed my mind.
And we also had kids about three years later on average than my folks did (though compared to my wife’s folks, about five years earlier).
The '90s were fucking awesome (except for the acid rain, shit had me spooked in first grade when they played the laser disc about it).
MilkDrop is the best visualizer out there, hands down. Been using it forever at this point, and the crazy part is every so often I see some visualization that I’ve never seen before.
What better place to keep em guessing than while behind the wheel on the highway!
And I know it’s state dependent, but the highways by me, each white line is about one car and each gap is one car, so if you’re doing 50, having two to three white dashed lines between you and the car in front of you is probably good.
Other than perhaps what else I addressed that you didn’t quote, are you asking me what the meaning of life is? I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer.
People on the Internet, and specifically reddit/Lemmy, sit and read all this negative shit all day, every day, and then come and regurgitate it for others to do the same. Life has literally never been easy, except for a very select few. I personally think some of the best things in life come from the fact that there are difficulties weighing in opposition (winter and summer, as the most general example). If you don’t want to have kids, that is great, but to say it’s because the world is difficult is just such a copout, because the world has always been and will always be difficult. You need to live for good times, weather the bad times.
Yeah, I straight up cannot just sleep in. If I lay there extra, things just start to hurt, like my body’s saying “Get up, you have shit to do.”
Maybe the crazies with an absolute mountain of nonsense obstructing their rear windshield and all over their bumper are the ones who are right?
Love the content, but that format is what I stare at every day so now I’m back at work in my free time!
It goes against my human nature to not overanalyze.
Unfortunately they’re on pages that I absolutely need to get into because my money is stored behind them. I cannot stand them, and I generally agree with you, if some random site has me doing a captcha in leaving.
