Italian movie Cinema Paradiso. This movie is the embodiment of my love for cinema.
Both of them feel so raw and genuine it makes me come back to them time and again.

Can’t believe no one has said the dramatized version of LOTR broadcast by BBC in 1981! 12 hours plus of pure magic. Fun fact: Ian Holm gave the voice for Frodo in the radio version, the same guy who plays Bilbo in the movie trilogy.
Looks like it is on internet archive already: https://archive.org/details/lord-of-the-rings-10_202401 though I first downloaded it on high seas many years ago.

Yes, very nearly the easiest fermented drink I’ve made. There is a vegetable and fruits shop near that slices up pineapples when you buy. He was very happy to give away the rinds and peels in a bag. I just gave it a wash and put it in a large glass jar (around 3 litres) of water with a stick of cinnamon and half a kilo of jaggery. It was done in 4 days and was a hit with my friends at the office. Now three of them are fermenting some of their own. But the weather is mild where I am. I’m not sure it’ll be as easy to ferment in summers without temperature control.

That actually gives me an idea. I have an LED light that can be mounted on the head with a strap. I can diffuse its light with a paper, as suggested by you. Thanks!

I’m going to use this post to ask for a fix. I have an old generation kindle with no frontlight. What would be the easiest way to get a decent amount of diffused light on it? The device even has exposed power leads at the back for specialized covers for such things but frontlight covers aren’t available for sale in my country now.

You can clean the filters by putting them in the washing machine?! I thought they were made of paper and would not survive the washing machine cycle. Just to be sure, mine look like these (voyager is failing to upload the pic for some reason, sorry): https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcSqQZcMMvdraSycQnJnIhZCuRQKP7bIE7FfPhSuvLU6Ygc8IYL33ARA5h-6&s=10

Wait till they find out that your are capable of GOSUB - RETURN too.

I went with 8HzWAN_IP for the same effect.

Yes it has a scale changer. I love playing it when I can but I will admit I could never do justice to what it is capable of.

The one I have, Hohner Super 64x, is pretty expensive, at least for me.

I play a little bit of the harmonica. It’s gotten out of tune a little bit over the years and no places near me will repair it.
But what I’m really proud of is the set of ceramic bowls I’ve collected over the years to make what is called Jal tarang. Water needs to be filled in them to specified levels and struck with wooden sticks to make a musical note. Tuning it is an exercise of its own but I love playing it when I can find the time. Sounds really nice.
Here is a virtuoso of the instrument playing a song:
That this too, shall pass.
I have a tin box full of very old nibs which still look pristine. I bought them on impulse at a flea market dirt cheap. I have no idea what to do with them.

I stand corrected. The satellite data from remote sensing satellites downloaded at Antarctica downlink stations are sent back to other countries by geostationary satellite links.

My point is that Antarctica is well connected by fiber. Am I mistaken?

While this is indeed a noble cause, i wonder if internet being slow in Antarctica is real. A large number of data recieving stations for polar satellites are stationed in Antarctica and they send data to other continents through high speed fiber lines which are also used for internet.

I remember seeing him (or someone claiming to be him) here on lemmy after the big migration from the-place-we-don’t-talk-about. Someone was not impressed by him and told that to his face, politely. Never noticed him around since.

Not only can you create your own maps using QGIS, it also has plugins that lets you create webapps out of them that anyone in your network can access, without coding.

Have you been able to make voice search/input work in your setup? If so, how?
