Thats genuinely amazing. The OSM community doesn’t care if what you built is dumb, they just care if it’s on the map
Props to them
Hello, my name is Cris. :)
I like being nice to people on the internet and looking at cool art stuff

Why in the everliving fuck is that a thing anyone needed? Just go to a gun store and show your ID if needed for fucks sake
We don’t need a new way to buy bullets, we certainly don’t need a vending machine for them, and if we’re getting one anyway it certainly doesn’t need AI, who the fuck dreamt this up and thought it was a good idea??
Once again, one of the very rare few areas where ai isn’t a completely shitty solution: tasks that are worthwhile and important, but that require labor no one is willing to pay for.
Others include translation, transcription, and image descriptions. Things people won’t put resources into but that should happen anyway
The only problem is that these have nothing to do with why massive companies are investing in this tech. If AI didn’t enable the equivalent of money laundering for intellectual labor, the billionaires wouldn’t give a shit
You opt in by following the bridgy fed account for your platform, so for Mastodon that’d be: https://bsky.brid.gy/bsky.brid.gy
There’s one on each platform, and when you follow it it’ll create you a bluesky/mastodon counterpart and send you the link to that bridged account
No, not unless the person whose posts you want to see opted into bridging their account.
If both parties bridge their accounts they can follow eachother, or if one person bridges their account others can follow them.
I don’t think you can see boosts of stuff not on your platform though, and I don’t know how interacting with a bridged account works if both of you are bridged. If only the person you’re following is bridged they definitely won’t see it, but I don’t know if that changes if you’re both bridged
Yeah, I was just making a dumb joke cause I like bad jokes :)
It’s a pun. Post as in power on self test, and post as in post to social media.
He seemed to manage it just fine, it shows up for me with no issue
Edit: /j
Oh shit, that’s super interesting! Really appreciate you sharing that, now I wanna go read more about that some time!
Your sauce will still have less sugar than others, but if I understand correctly, simmering for hours will break down the more complex sugars in tomatoes into simpler sugars resulting in a somewhat sweeter taste
I think cooking does also dull the percieved acidity of food though, hence lemon juice or other acids often being added at the end so as to keep the brightness. But I’m not actually sure if the pH changes or if it’s just a change in the tartness we associate with acidity, maybe someone can chime in with more information :)
Thats fair. A na miata is basically my dream car, I hope to someday daily one in spite of being from the 90s 😅
I mean, a lot of cars have a genuinely phenomenal life span, if you don’t mind getting something that isn’t shiny and new you can probably get like a 2012 Toyota or Honda and drive it till the wheels fall off. My dream car is from the 90s and people still generally regard them as fairly reliable
Eventually it’ll be an issue, but that does leave a lot of time for nerds and hackers to find a way to gut networking stuff while telling the car it’s still intact. Dunno if we’ll ever see an open source car OS compatible with the systems in major manufacturer’s vehicles, but privacy workarounds feel like they could be pretty realistic
Wait, what’s happening to permissions on android…?
I didn’t think I could install via a file on android, but it turns out you actually can! Thanks for the link :)
It looks like bypass paywalls clean was actually taken down recently. Apparently mozzila recieved a copyright claim and it was taken down as a normal part of that process :/
My understanding is that most people use an extension to dismiss the cookie dialog if they’re also deleting third party cookies, either with an extension/or a browser feature
Though there is also consent-o-matic which is supposed to automatically decline all the cookies you can. Folks in this thread mentioned it, so now I’m giving that a try :)
Its worth knowing there are some separate instances, like beehaw, though they have a very specific experience they’re going for and I think plan to refederate when they have the moderation resources.
Could be worth looking for an instance that fits if that’s what you really want
I mean it’s also a small community built project that doesn’t have the money, or resources that reddit has, and hasn’t been around as long
Better clients can help, but it takes time for a platform to mature, especially an open source one built with community funding 🤷♂️
If you wish it was going faster, you might think about contributing/donating if you’re able :)
I mean that only seems like it’d be true if oil isn’t involved, since running water over something coated with oil seems like it’d do pretty much nothing
Most people use an extension on web and an app that uses the system autofil functionality on mobile (at least on android, I’ve not used iOS for a long time)
You don’t have to open anything, or type anything other than a password. On mobile you just use your fingerprint, don’t have to type anything at all.
If you’re taking about initial setup that’s also gonna be a lot more complicated for an average user than bitwarden.
A command line tool is not even remotely a comparable user experience. It may work wonderfully for you, and I’m glad it does, but it’s pretty out of touch to suggest that it’d be a good fit for most people
The pixelfed app is in beta, but you can use it. In my experience it’s pretty unstable right now

Edit: figured I should mention, I just use pixeldroid right now which is less unstable https://f-droid.org/packages/org.pixeldroid.app/
