The “not that there’s anything wrong with that” episode of Seinfeld kind of summarizes the attitudes at the time. I don’t think the majority of millennials ever were against gay people (I’m sure there were exceptions regionally) but there was heavy stereotyping, which of course was a form of othering. And yeah the 90s were very no filter in general. At this time people viewed poking fun as a form of acceptance. But it took some time for the stereotypes to die down.

The whole concept of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” was so weird and very of its time. And that was considered pretty progressive at the time.

Hard to spend money without an economy though. You’d have to bring some form of physical wealth with you.

Yeah I mean it’s probably possible to live underground on Mars (assuming an infinite budget) but there’s not a lot of compelling reason to dig on Mars instead of just… On earth.

China is an authoritarian government that is able to take direct control of any Chinese company. Like, explicitly. More or less all Chinese companies should be treated with suspicion.

Musk is a shithead but not, to our knowledge, an agent of a foreign hostile government. Turning twitter into a place that promotes hate speech is legally protected free speech, although specific statements that provoke violence may not be protected. Contrary to popular belief, there are many exceptions to free speech.

Presumably people who care about you as a person care about what you’re up to with your life, but maybe the author of this hasn’t experienced that.

This is incorrect. What you’re describing is the Third World. The Second World was the eastern bloc and other Soviet allies. The First World was NATO allies. The implication is basically that the third world was not important enough to be a factor in the cold war.
