  • Gotta mention the downsides. You’re gonna pay more for electrical/gas. Since you’re basically keeping your hot pipes full of hot water at all times. If you’re in an older house and those pipes are copper and in a crawlspace, exposed to 40 degree weather, that’s gonna get cold pretty quick.

If you end up with access to old pipes I recommend a good insulation for starters. I insulated my own and my heat up time dropped from like 2 minutes to 30 seconds. Still quite a bit of time to wait but I’d be spending a lot on constantly keeping that longer pipe full with hot water

  • Oh. Maybe I shouldn’t share this but I never paid for a windows product. Even office when it went to 360 I stopped trying to pirate earlier versions and just switched to free open source office tools.

Windows 8 I think got authenticated when it went to 10 and I’ve just been riding that install. Still got my handy USB stick whenever I reinstall.

The shooter game is just a time killer for me. Dopamine memories from better times. The problem with using compatible apps is not all my friends will. Is datcord communicate directly with discord users? We already have a technologic dichotomy with half my friends on iPhone other on Android. Xbox vs Playstation vs pc gaming. It’s tough to get people on the same page.

  • Besides using it since Windows 95, I’ve done everything on it. Warez, making shady software work, learning the ins and outs to keep it my way.

I thought about switching since I’ve dabbled in dual boot before, but I just f don’t want to be restarting my computer to keep switching between OS when one can do all I want with some baggage, and the other can do less without it.

Mainly for me it’s compatibility. Discord, MW3, networking between my main PC and HTPC. Online gaming with friends. Full steam support.

It just works. Switching to Linux, finding a distro that will encompass what I do, running into problems, having to fix them, or worst case scenario finding out that I can’t do the thing (mw3 or any game that has denuvo) without having to switch back to windows anyways in a dual boot I just don’t see why having Linux to do anything that I’m already doing on windows is worth it. Why have dual boot. Removing the annoying windows baggage is just not enough for me to switch.

I just now switched from chrome to Firefox because they finally implemented the removal of anti ad extensions. It was an easy switch. The UI is a little different. But I hate nothing more than ads. Despise them. And paying to remove them isn’t an option because it means I’m giving into the hostage situation.

If windows becomes unmanageable, I can’t find ANY software to remove ads, even remove windows features that I can’t live with, then I’ll consider sacrificing the few things I can’t do on Linux and move to Linux.

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate it a lot. You got me thinking hard on coffee now. I’m not sure why I used two filters. Maybe to stop it from flowing over the edges of the drip machine. But now that I think of it, why not use a pour over method? I looked up that hand grinder and see the pour over equipment bought frequently with it.

I might have to try that with the water. But my water is very palatable. I live near Seattle, and my water dispenser is filtered through an insinkerator dispenser, which also does my boiling water.

Oooo, I just use ground beans and toss them on two filters and run the coffee pot. My water is kinda hard, we have an espresso machine (breville batista touch) that had us do a water test with our filtered water. If I’m doing espresso we try to do local seller beans from Fred Meyers.

I don’t mind espresso, but an Americano just tastes like coffee that’s been watered down, or too bitter which I don’t mind. But just a drip has been a better taste for me. I’m not extremely picky but I would love to get a better taste because I’ve definitely noticed the difference in coffee beans.

BTW I drink my coffee straight. No cream no sugar most times. And I love it iced.

I see you really like coffee lol. I like coffee too. But my interest stopped at “drip this and refrigerate it, add ice in the morning”. No sugar. But I am not particular about coffee taste, as long as it isn’t sour.

Hmm but now that I’ve got your attention, what would you recommend to upgrade the palatability of my cold brew?

I was thinking the same thing, sport related hobbies. Because I dabbled in snowboarding as a youth and spent around $400 on my board and gear. My coat was $100. I spent way too much on a sport that I knew after 2 seasons that I didn’t want to do it anymore. I could’ve spent more but I’m glad I spent just enough to have good gear to get the good honest attempt to get into it but not enough to have a garage full of boards.

I bought the Bambu P1S 3d printer. I’ve never 3d printed and knew very little except for the dozen or so YouTube videos recommending it and how to use it, learned about filaments and everything else I now know I learned on the way.

I could have gotten one of a dozen <$500 3D printers. But would that just leave me wanting in the future? Will I be stuck with a cheaper tool after learning and experiencing the ceiling of it?

I see this mentality working on people who aren’t interested in a hobby enough to justify a large purchase, people just trying out and see if they’re interested kinda thing. But what if the subpar gear turns the person off from their poor experience?
