There are a few denialist of israeli war crimes voices on LW that I instantly blocked, but it’s been far less of a problem than a constant barrage of tankies from ML. I have a 45 account long blocklist mostly filled with ML accounts.
As you may have noticed, I’m on Blahaj, which federates with ML. But when someone wrote a post saying they couldn’t deal with the tankies anymore, I suggested they try Lemmy.cafe, which is not federated with ML.
I’ve never heard of exploding heads or seen them before?
From what I vaguely remember there was a problem with a far right instance a year ago then everyone defederated with it and it died? Is that exploding heads?
Pretty sure they wouldn’t allow that kind of content, but since cafe was a tiny instance (and still is rather small) back then, perhaps it was never even requested or a problem for them.
I wouldn’t assume they supported ExplodingHeads just because they didn’t block it. Just like I don’t assume mander.xyz is a radical uyghur genicide denialist because they federate with hexbear.
Yea, exploding heads made the rounds a couple of times, but after actually checking them out it became clear it’s run by a teenager surrounded by other 10-15 teenagers. A few main instances blocked it and it died. The main teenager then started hilarious chaos as a whitelist-only instance, but because it did not attract anyone - federation was reenabled at some later point.
There’s a difference between a couple of edgy teens and a big set of ideological morons who keep causing trouble.
Defederation is a nuclear option - at the time user-level blocking was not a thing; nowadays it’s not a problem.
TL;DR - freedom of speech as much as possible, with limits when it becomes necessary.

an instance who is federating with worse, like exploding-heads, EH, is pro trumpist, far rights, pro genocide,
come on, before advise, take a look.
Thats a clear message to block ML, and not the others kind of stuff …
And they are federate with worse than Exploding-heads, thats pretty a thing…
Dont you see a problem here ?

Even they are not online actually, they appears on the federated, and not blocked one, on lemmy.cafe,
For me, thats an issue, and a no go,
