One of the premier old growth redwood forests in the world, this trail begins along the great Howland Hills rd before heading into this lush wonderland. A smallish waterfall is the turnaround before heading to the spur that takes you up to the rightfully popular Boy Scout tree, truly spectacular.

A smaller (in comparison to the others) tree has fallen to a 45 degree angle and helps to show the sheer size of the surrounding Redwoods. Taken on Rokinnon 14mm Ultra-wide lens.

Fern falls, surrounded by tall Redwoods, with a section of tree stump laying in the falls. Taken on a Rokinon 14mm Ultra-wide lens.

The rootwad from a large fallen Redwood frames the small bridge crossing over a creek. Surrounded by smaller, moss covered trees. Taken using Canon RF 70-200mm lens.

Thanks! Yeah, it’s really hard to convey the feeling you get surrounded by these absolutely massive trees. That coastline around Crescent city is so pretty; it’s great all around the CA/OR area but the Castle Island stuff is just so great.
