Similar story actually. I tried to make an anime colouring book for a young family member with A.I.

It often gave me… disturbing content. I was extremely shocked. I didn’t ask for that, it just did it on its own. I accidentally downloaded one of the models which is “nsfw” by mistake; in my defence, it was a very confusing process at the time. Apparently you have to specifically tell it not to make pornography by default.

It also didn’t really know what to do with the lines. It often gave me effectively a mutilated “veiny” version of the base image with lines randomly and incohesively all over the place. Just a mess that’s impossible to colour in without enough white space.

I whipped up something nice in Photoshop over a few hours instead.

I have a theory about that, but I don’t have anything outside of personal experience to back it up. I hit puberty after the adoption of the digital age but before the advent of smart phones. As such, I don’t know a single person who wasn’t sending nudes all through high school. Most of us started young.

Pair that with the info that basically every single powerful person either is or isn’t against being friends with pedophiles, the rampant data harvesting that companies have been doing for decades, and the fact that ai is trained on that data in bulk and scraping the internet, all of a sudden it seems like there’s probably a lot more csam in the hands of these businesses than there ever was in any of the places they demonized. There’s a good chance yours and mine are in that pile.
