You get dancing penguins either way.

It’s Pants or PantsPants or “The Art of Pants”

Suicide hotlines are very much still a thing, and you typically don’t need any kind of license or degree. I think many are volunteers.
There are also likely outreach programs in your area, if you search for them, and they frequently need volunteers. Helping people to access services is one of the more effective ways to prevent deaths, especially for high-risk populations like: addiction, lgbt, homeless.
If you’re looking to make a (paying) career change for this, there are also entry level jobs in behavioral health at inpatient and outpatient centers.
I feel like this would have been doable on cable in the 90s or early 00s.
Right? I’m sure he expected to immediately be a god at chess with no studying or practice, then got upset when that wasn’t the case.
My theory is that he’s frustrated that he can’t manage a team or pay someone to get better at it for him.
The humility it takes to be a beginner at something is uncomfortable when you have a huge ego.
I don’t know what he has against chess, but this is like the 3rd time I’ve seen him try to convince everyone that it’s pointless because of computers.
Nobody’s perfect
Bah, I can never remember and was just copying the comic. Apparently “judgment” is the standard American spelling, and “judgement” is English. They both look right to me. I need to remember to always consult the Terminator:

I had no idea there were penguins in South Africa!

I personally tire of the politics too, but there isn’t a “no politics” rule in lemmyshitpost, so it’s fair game. People have brought it up before, but it seems like the wider community prefers the less restrictive posting rules.
That’s a funny way to put it. I’ve always heard (in the US) “it’ll hurt your eyes” in more general terms.
Don’t even joke about that
It’s bean too long.

Hungarian speakers have mentioned that it’s more like a Y instead of a J.

“Minds moving freely” is a good way to put it. I also think when we stay cooped up inside too much, our minds get a bit contained too. The world feels smaller.
It’s a real phenomenon that when people isolate themselves, they start fixating on things that they wouldn’t have otherwise, sometimes getting paranoid or anxious.

Yeah, I’d probably hide in the walls this time. Maybe even the attic.
I’ve been slowing them down a little bit, but I am still posting every few days.
